Mesothelioma Survival Guide

Mesothelioma is a cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. In this disease, malicious cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most internal organs of the body. The most frequent location is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and internal chest wall), but may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity), the heart, the pericardium (the sac surrounding the heart) or tunica vaginalis.

A wide range of factors considered in terms of survival of mesothelioma is referred to as the level of cancer, patient's age and general health and so on a scale of five years is used by people with experience in mesothelioma research and treatment for the calculation of survival. The survival of mesothelioma is so difficult that only about ten percent of all diagnosed patients have achieved the target of five years now.

The chances of survival of mesothelioma can be improved by continued treatment and rigorous. However, it should be noted that the response to treatment may vary from person to person. The potential for healing and duration of survival depend on this reaction. There is a wide range of factors that control the success of treatment. Above all, success depends on the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis. Chance of cure are greater with surgery and chemotherapy in the first and second phases. The chances of survival are bleak in the third and fourth level.

There are generally three types of mesothelioma cancer. The first type is referred to as pleural mesothelioma has an effect on the membranous covering of the abdomen, the latter also known as peritoneal cancer damage to the abdominal cavity and the third, the pericardium is seen in the parts in and around the heart. The third is more harmful than the other two, but is rare. The mesothelioma survival depends on how big the tumor, the area affected, the level of excess fluid collected in the abdomen or chest, cell structure, type of cancer cells, etc.

Conclusions are reached enormous proportions by the medical community, which examined the survival rates of mesothelioma in recent years. It was found that infection with mesothelioma is increasing worldwide. It has also proven that chemotherapy is successful in cases where surgery is not effective. Research is working tirelessly for more and more effective strategies to defeat the deadly asbestos cancer, which has already destroyed the peace and happiness of many families by eliminating their near and dear ones. The latest treatment techniques to create a lease of hope for victims.
