Plastic Surgery Today

By Yvonne Brixey

Plastic Surgery is becoming more and more popular especially among women who want to bring back their earlier form and youth. A few examples of plastic surgery are breast augmentation, tummy tuck, breast reduction, nose surgery, reconstructive surgery, laser skin resurfacing, and other cosmetic procedures. Plastic Surgery however is not only for women, of course. A little lift here and there or skin implants or removal as well as other cosmetic procedures are becoming more common with men and younger generations too. Some plastic surgery is performed with the purpose of eliminating excess skin and fat to get the younger looking face or the nice looking tummy tuck or breast reduction. Plastic Surgery can help restore a person that has been in an accident with reconstructive surgery. Plastic Surgery can usually eliminate or at least reduce scar tissue.

Some plastic surgery can leave some new scarring, for instance tummy tuck and breast implants are examples of plastic surgery that leave minor scars. But these plastic surgery procedures can also remove other larger scarred skin like stretch marks or Cesarian Section scars. Because the skin and body take time to heal, the scars from plastic surgery sometimes look worse before the get better. Your plastic surgeons should inform their patients of what to expect during the recovery time after plastic surgery and plastic surgeons usually have instructions on how to improve the recovery process and improve any possible scarring areas of the skin. An example of plastic surgery recovery methods is the use of tubes to drain any extra fluids from beneath the plastic surgery area. These plastic tube procedures are used in a tummy tuck plastic surgery. This helps the patient obtain the desired result of a flat abdomen.

Other examples of recovery therapy after plastic surgery procedures is the use of elastic-bandages which compress the skin around the plastic surgery area. These types of recovery procedures reduce swelling. Some plastic surgery recovery methods include the use of medical-honey which can be put on the plastic surgery wound. Medical-honey can be prescribed by plastic surgeons.

There are several different treatment methods plastic surgeons can prescribe and recommend during the plastic surgery recovery process. Silicone-sheets or patches for example help the skin to not scar. Whatever your plastic surgery happens to be whether it's a tummy tuck, laser skin resurfacing, breast reduction, breast implants, nose surgery, reconstructive surgery, or any other cosmetic procedures, you should make sure you are clear on the instructions from your plastic surgeons so that you can help your skin and body heal quickly and effectively from the plastic surgery, and also to be able to get your desired results out of the plastic surgery.

Plastic surgery procedures may or may not be covered on an insurance plan. If the plastic surgery is optional, then usually insurance benefits won't pay for your surgery procedures. However, when receiving plastic surgery due to an accident where plastic surgery will correct skin and body in areas that were harmed by the accident, in this case insurance benefits may cover the costly plastic surgery for reconstructive surgery and other corrective cosmetic surgery procedures.
